Multi-crore startup park & convention centre on Super Corridor get green signal

Indore: The long-stalled plans for a major startup park and a large Convention Centre on the Super Corridor finally received approval from the Indore Development Authority (IDA) board of directors on Tuesday.
After years of being held up by land disputes and procedural delays, the construction of both ambitious, multi-crore rupee projects is set to begin.
The two projects, each estimated to cost over Rs 1,000 crore, will be constructed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model and are targeted for completion within three years. An international-level agency will be appointed by the IDA to handle the construction, with land already identified for both sites.
The IDA board meeting, held after a gap of two months, granted approval for the projects and addressed several infrastructure and planning issues. Tenders worth Rs 17.65 crore were approved for various development works. The board decided to send a proposal to the state govt for approval to change the alignment of MR-12. This change is critical to remove a curve in the road, which is currently hindering the construction of a 100-metre-long bridge over the Kahn river.
Work at the Kailaud Hala Railway Crossing on MR-12 remains stalled as the proposal for its alignment change has yet to receive state approval. The board agreed to simplify the rules and rates for the property tax levied by the Municipal Corporation on IDA schemes. The goal is to make the tax structure logical and easier for taxpayers to understand.
IDA chairman and divisional commissioner Sudam Khade confirmed the decision to send the MR-12 alignment proposal to the govt and the selection process for appointing an agency for the Startup Park and Convention Centre.
The board also took steps toward managing the proposed Indore Metropolitan Region (IMR), which covers an area of 9,989.69 sq km (expanded from an earlier 6,631.40 sq km). The School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, was selected to monitor the quality of the IMR plan. The agency will oversee the Development and Investment Plan within the region, which includes areas from Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar, and Shajapur districts.
